I’m SO excited to announce that we’re officially building a home in Charleston, SC!
As many of you know, we’ve been searching for a home since February. Since then, we’ve spent several weekends in Charleston and realized that building a home was our best option.
A little background… David is a project manager for a construction company, and we’ve spent the last 9 years moving to various locations for his job. Before we moved back to TN, we spent 3 years in Charleston and absolutely fell in love with the area. We have so many friends there and found a church we love, so we knew we wanted to settle down there.
To be honest, we planned to move around with David’s job for the next 10 years, but after much thought, we realized we’re ready to settle down now! Thankfully, David’s job was very understanding regarding our decision. He will be working mostly from home and traveling periodically when we move to Charleston. I already work from home, so I’m very excited for this new chapter and us spending more time together! I really can’t wait to spend the weekends with our friends and go to church on Sunday mornings. I can’t wait to host our friends and family, and I absolutely can’t wait to live near the beach!
As we all know, the housing market is insane, and Charleston is a sought-after place to live. We thought we may want to build from the beginning, but we weren’t really sure until we started traveling to Charleston to look at houses. After walking through homes and considering the prices, we realized we could get more of what we want for the same prices if we build. However, finding a good home layout and a decent amount of land did not come easy. We actually fell in love with one home build, but the lot was so small, and we knew we wanted a decent-sized backyard. A few weeks later, we found another home build that we liked, and the selling point was the one acre of land! If you’re familiar with Charleston, finding an acre of land that is still close to the beach and downtown is not common! I still love the first home layout we found a little more, but this house will be great for us, and we will have a huge backyard!
With that being said, we are hoping to move into our new home by or in December this year! I can’t wait to bring you along and share tons of home decor! I’ll be sharing plenty of updates on my Instagram page, so stay tuned!
