Happy Friday friends! Today I am sharing my must-have hair care products including several long time holy grail favorites that I’ve been using for years!
First off, let’s start with shampoo. Since my hair is colored, I used a color-safe shampoo, conditioner, and purple shampoo to help keep my color vibrant and prevent discoloration. I swear by the Redken Color Extend sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. I buy the liters and you can find them on sale at Ulta periodically for about half the price! I always stock up during the Ulta jumbo sale. Since I only wash my hair twice a week, I triple wash every time to make sure my scalp is clean and any product residue is washed away. I use purple shampoo every other wash to help maintain my color. I use this before or after I condition and let it sit on my hair for about ten minutes before rinsing.
Next, I towel dry my hair and apply my favorite styling products. First I start with a volumizing mousse and root pump. I apply both products generously, I love big hair! Lastly, I use a heat protectant spray that smells heavenly. I spritz this all over but mainly focus on my ends.
I always blow dry my hair upside down to achieve maximum volume. I use a round brush to brush through and lift my roots. Once my hair is about 80% dry I flip my hair back over and use my round brush to help smooth the hair around my face by rolling my hair around the brush. Once I’ve dried my hair I like to maintain the volume around the crown of my head by using a root texturing powder and a teasing comb. I lift sections of my hair, apply the powder to root of the hair, and then use my comb to tease each section. To smooth any flyaways I use a bonding oil and also put some of this oil on my ends to seal any split ends.
Most of the time I curl my hair with a 1-inch curling iron and do this in sections then let the curls sit before I brush through them with a wide-tooth comb. Occasionally I will straighten my hair but I can go longer without washing my hair when I curl it.
I use a matte grip powder to help hold the tease in my hair. I love using a volume-boosting spray on dirty hair days to bring life back to my roots. The Living Proof Dry Shampoo is the absolute best and a little goes a long way. Lastly, for the finishing touches, I lightly mist hairspray all over. The one I use is great if you live in a high humidity climate but there are also other less hold options.
I almost forgot to mention my all-time favorite hair mask! I’ve talked about this product so much on Instagram lately but I’m totally in love with how it’s transformed my hair. Once a week I try to use this mask on clean damp hair. I apply it from root to tip and also apply the bonding oil to the ends of my hair as well. I sleep in this hair mask, wash it out in the morning, and I’m left with softer and more manageable hair.
