Well, goodbye for now! It’s official this time, we’re really moving. For those of you who are new around here, let me explain. We move around about every 2 years for my husband’s job. He is a project manager for an industrial construction company, meaning we travel to different parts of the southeast so that he can complete various jobs. Yes, people think we are absolutely crazy for voluntarily moving around but we absolutely love it! We get to see different parts of the country, meet new people, and as with any job, traveling comes with great incentives.
We have been fortunate enough to be in Charleston, SC for over 3 years now! We’ve made so many friends and had amazing opportunities. This is where I started Honey Sweet Petite! I love this place SO SO SO much! While I’m sad that were leaving, there have been several instances where we thought we would be moving while in Charleston. So mentally I’ve been prepared for this but my heart is truly sad.
We found out about a week or two ago, it honestly feels like a month ago, that we are officially going back to east Tennessee. Specifically the tri-cities area, Johnson City/Kingsport, nowhere near Nashville. We actually lived in this area before coming to Charleston. To be honest, I’m so disappointed to be going back. I’m not a mountain person and there’s really not much to do there unless you’re into hiking… I’m definitely not going on a hike for fun. LOL! When we lived there previously I didn’t exactly thrive and I literally jumped for joy when we found out we would be coming back to SC.
But in the midst of all this disappointment, a huge prayer has been answered. When we moved to Charleston initially, I remember telling David specifically that I hope God provides me with a job where I can work remotely when we move again. And guess what, God did just that! I’ll be working 100% virtually for myself and part-time for the dental office! It’s so nice to not be job hunting again. I’ve done it so many times and I now have a career that I feel very secure in. Thank God!!!
While I totally understand me being disappointed about moving to a small town in the middle of nowhere is eye-roll worthy, I do have to give God all the glory for providing for us in every season. We will be a little over 1 hour from Asheville, 1.5 hours from Knoxville, and 3 hours from Charlotte, where my family lives. I also plan on coming back to Charleston several times a year. My goal is to travel one weekend a month so I have something to look forward to often.
This past week has been very stressful as we struggled to find a place to live in TN! The housing market is insane and there’s even a shortage in rentals. We finally find a house yesterday and we are so thrilled to get out of apartment living for a little while. If you’ve been following along, we’ve experienced a lot of maintenance issues in our Charleston apartment so it will be nice to be in a house! Our new home is a brand new build and I’ll have my own office space! Such a blessing.
That’s all I know for now but will share more updates as they come! We will be moving early September. Thank you for all your support. You guys are the best!!! -Rachel
