It’s no secret that I color my hair, which can leave it dry and damaged. To keep my hair healthy, I stopped washing it as often! Less hair washing means my hair color stays more vibrant, and I use less heat since I’m not drying my hair daily. So how do I manage to keep my hair looking great for 5 days without a drop of water? I started using Pantene’s Waterless Collection, which offers a variety of products to help avoid the dreaded hair washing day! Below I’m sharing three hairstyles to get you through those days when you don’t want to wash your hair and which products to use to maintain oil-free roots.
Day 1 & 2
After my hair is dried and styled, I spray just a little of the Pantene Never Tell Dry Shampoo Spray on my roots to help absorb any oil throughout the day to keep it fresh. When my hair is down, I tend to touch it more so this helps soak up that oil from my fingers. I then spray the mid to the ends of my hair with Pantene Hot Mama Heat Activated Hair (Re)Freshing Spray to keep it safe from thermal damage before I use my curling iron.
For freshly washed hair, I always curl my hair and wear it down. Second-day hair is my favorite as it is easy to restyle. I spray the Hot Mama Heat Activated Hair (Re)Freshing Spray all over, making sure to hit every strand my curling iron will touch. Then, I curl my hair with a one-inch curling iron and on day two I touch up the curls.
Day 3
A half-updo is a great way to bring volume back to the crown and keep your hair out of the way. For this style, I again use the Never Tell Dry Shampoo Spray and theHot Mama Heat Activated Hair (Re)Freshing Spray. I curl the hair that is left down. By day 3, I use more of the dry shampoo than on days one and two to help bring my hair back to life. When using dry shampoo, always make sure you are massaging it into your scalp to get the best results, and spray the dry shampoo 6-8 inches away. My favorite part about using the dry shampoo is there is no white residue!
To achieve this hairstyle I apply a generous amount of dry shampoo to my roots, grab the hair at the top of the crown, tease it, then secure it with an elastic into a bun. Spray the hair that is left down from mid-way to the ends with the heat protectant spray and use a curling iron to touch up the curls.
Day 4 & 5
I’m always so excited for day 4 and 5 hair because a ponytail is so quick and effortless. The first thing I do when I wake up is spray my roots generously with dry shampoo then let my hair sit for a few minutes before styling so that the dry shampoo can work its magic! Then I use the Pantene Mist Behaving Dry Conditioner Mistto help detangle and defrizz my locks. This micro-mist is great for adding moisture back into your hair, so you want to avoid your roots and focus just on the mid-lengths to ends. Lastly, I tease my hair and secure it into a ponytail. You can add a fun scrunchie or scarf to your ponytail for fun!
